Wyoming! (Day 15)
Living in a park and ride at the intersection of an interstate and major state highway gets old very quick. At all hours of the night there are trucks using their engine brakes on the off ramp rumbling by along with the occasion car without a muffler. Around 6am, traffic really starts to pick up as people begin their morning commutes. I’m a heavy sleeper, but even I have been having trouble sleeping through all the racket. While we were sitting in Starbucks this morning co

Nebraska and Catastrophic Trailer Tire Failure (Day 10)
I woke up at 7:30 and went inside the rest area to use their WiFi, charge my phone/laptop, and update the blog. At around 8:30, I started calling around to all the tire places I could find in Omaha to try and find a couple of new tires for the tiny house, as were are down to one good spare. The third shop I called had them, and we had our first destination for the day! We got to Omaha around 11, and found the tire shop, Lyle's Tire and Wheels, which was conveniently right o

Iowa and more tire trouble (Day 9)
I was up at 7:30 this morning and went into the rest area to use their internet. Shenee found me at around 9:00 and we spent an hour or so looking at potential assignments for her. The one she was hoping to get in Montana was given to someone with more experience, and unfortunately it seems to be slim pickings out west right now for assignments. She has put in for an assignment in the Denver, CO area as well as near Albuquerque, NM. Not knowing where we are going to end u

Onward to Chicago (Day 8)
It's hard for me to believe that we have already been on the road for 7 days and have only made it to Chicago. I've driven across the country quite a few times, and it usually only takes 2-3 days max. My last trip was from Bangor, ME to Denver, CO and it only took 34 hours. I must say, this relaxed pace is a quite a bit nicer. I do enjoy being able to have a bed to sleep in at night! I was up at 7am today and immediately got in the car, and drove over to the tire place wh

Never a dull moment (Day 7)
I have always enjoyed the feeling of waking up in a new place. When you wake up in the same bed, in the same place, day after day, there is no sense of excitement. You’ll probably get up, make coffee, go to work, come home, make dinner, go to sleep, repeat. When I wake up somewhere unfamiliar, it generally means that I have no idea what the day is going to bring and that adventure, new experiences, and the unknown are just a few steps away! I woke up around 8am this mornin

On to Pittsburgh (Day 5)
I woke up around 7:30 this morning, and luckily the weather had cooled off and dried out at some point in the night. Neither of us slept very well, but setting the fan up did help. Yesterday at dinner my sister told me that her car battery was dead and that she hadn’t been able to drive it for a couple of weeks. She said if she left it parked for more than a day, it didn’t have enough juice to start the car. I figured it had a parasitic drain, so I went and picked up a new

Taking a day off (Day 3)
With our original planned departure date of Tuesday, my parents weren't going to be able to make it up from Massachusetts to see me and the house. But, with our one day delay, things changed, and they were able to make it today, so we decided to hang out in Merrimack for another day. While Mrs. Keay made us breakfast, she mentioned that she had heard a loud bang yesterday, and saw a puff of smoke come from near the truck. After breakfast, I went to investigate. My first g
