Wyoming! (Day 15)
Living in a park and ride at the intersection of an interstate and major state highway gets old very quick. At all hours of the night there are trucks using their engine brakes on the off ramp rumbling by along with the occasion car without a muffler. Around 6am, traffic really starts to pick up as people begin their morning commutes. Iām a heavy sleeper, but even I have been having trouble sleeping through all the racket. While we were sitting in Starbucks this morning co

Hanging around outside of Boulder (Days 12-14)
The good news is that we have reach the mountains! The bad news is that we have no idea where we are going next. Shenee has been trying to find a job, but it seems like every possibility falls through for one reason or another. So for now, we are parked at a Park and Ride about 15 miles outside of Boulder, waiting for something to work out. There are certainly worse places to be stuck in limbo. On Sunday, we went up to Rocky Mountain National Park, which was just a hair o

Onward to Chicago (Day 8)
It's hard for me to believe that we have already been on the road for 7 days and have only made it to Chicago. I've driven across the country quite a few times, and it usually only takes 2-3 days max. My last trip was from Bangor, ME to Denver, CO and it only took 34 hours. I must say, this relaxed pace is a quite a bit nicer. I do enjoy being able to have a bed to sleep in at night! I was up at 7am today and immediately got in the car, and drove over to the tire place wh

A day off in Pittsburgh (Day 6)
I woke up early this morning with the goal of visiting Mt. Davis, which is the highest point in Pennsylvania. One of my life goals is to hike to the highest point of each state, and I hadn't checked PA off yet. I left the tiny house at 5AM and made the 1.75 hour drive, arriving just a few minutes before sunrise. The roads in rural PA are a blast to drive on, as long as you don't have a tiny house with smoking brakes behind you! I got back to the tiny house at around 9AM, s

Taking a day off (Day 3)
With our original planned departure date of Tuesday, my parents weren't going to be able to make it up from Massachusetts to see me and the house. But, with our one day delay, things changed, and they were able to make it today, so we decided to hang out in Merrimack for another day. While Mrs. Keay made us breakfast, she mentioned that she had heard a loud bang yesterday, and saw a puff of smoke come from near the truck. After breakfast, I went to investigate. My first g

A nice, short, (mostly) easy drive (Day 2)
I woke up this morning around 7AM, and Isagani and I contemplated the best way to bring down the weight of the truck and trailer. We decided to go for the low hanging fruit, which was the steel doors from the back of the truck (~300 lbs), the spare truck tire (~100 lbs), and the set of snow tires for the Kia (~150 lbs). It sounds easy, and the tires were, as they were stored in the back of the Kia. The doors, however, were stored under the front of the Kia. In order to ge

It's Finally Happening!! (Day 1, Part 2)
After our 3 hour detour, courtesy of the Maine State Police, we were back on the road, and legal, at least in Maine, we think... This being the first long trip with the house and truck, I thought it would be a good idea to stop fairly frequently along the way to check everything. We traveled about 25 miles south on I-95 to the Newport exit to get fuel at the truck stop there. As I pulled through the truck fueling station and got out, a trucker came over and told me that it
